TorqTex

Sheer Elegance with Textured Character.

TorqTex Yarn Conversion

Flatter Torq yarn and conventional textured Tex yarn are processed separately on adjacent machine positions, then combined into one yarn, bringing together a sheer appearance and a textured finish.

The Torq component uses controlled, low levels of false twist to produce a bright, glossy yarn with a significantly flatter structure. The Tex component provides the character of conventional textured yarn.

Process and Conversion

Controlled Low Twist

TSP’s friction unit conversion guides the yarn across the twisting surface at a low angle to control twist insertion.

The process requires a linear texturing zone, as used on V type machines.

Reversible Conversion

The conversion allows a return to standard texturing operation.

No permanent modification to the friction unit is required.

S and Z Twist

The same conversion components accommodate both S and Z twist configurations.

Application Examples

Applications for yarns produced using the low twist process include ladies’ legwear and automotive trimmings.

Monofilament yarns have also been processed for vertical blinds.

Initial Setup Conditions

Tension Sensor Bypass

Low twist levels can increase T1 and T2 tensions beyond the normal operating range of the Unitens tension sensor.

Fit a ceramic guide above the tension sensor and route the yarn through this guide to bypass the sensor.

Draw Ratio

Lower twist levels allow a reduced draw ratio without adversely affecting surge speed.

Yarn Path and Cooling Track

Moving the cooling track back can reduce additional yarn path friction and process tension.

Heater Settings

Retain the normal primary heater temperature for the yarn.

Adjust crimp through the secondary heater; typical settings are 120–150°C.

Confirm the setup against the required yarn properties and operating conditions.
